Hi :) I just arrived as an au pair in Neuilly-sur-Seine and found out about this blog on an au pair Facebook page. It seems like a helpful blog, the survival tips will be really useful!

    Hi,
I am in the process of applying to be an au pair in Paris, and while filling the long stay visa application form, I need to fill the ‘purpose for visa’ section. As there is no option for au pair, which option do you think would be the most suitable for me to tick? ‘Studies’? ‘Training period/education’? or ‘Other’? Which one did you pick during your application.
Your response would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I’ve ended the contract with the horrible family. In the beginning they were really nice but things go worse and worse after the first month. In the end they treated me like a maid and wants to make me work in the weekends too. Now i’m looking for a new family.
Do you have any tips for avoiding this kind of family? Because when we had Skype interview everything seems nice. I couldn’t see all those things can happen in the future. Now I’m a bit scared to find a bad family again. Hope can hear advice from you soon. Thanks

    Hi, thanks for your message!
I think one of the main things to do is to ask the right questions to start with. Here is our page on questions to ask host families:

You could also go through an agency instead of looking for a new family on your own. This way the terms of your contract will have been agreed with the agency and they can help you sort out any problems! I can’t recommend any specific agencies, but this article mentions a few popular ones: http://www.ultimateaupair.com/2016/04/12/find-au-pair-nanny-job-paris/
    Good luck :)

    Hi,
I just came across your blog while i was looking for a host family on google and even thought I haven’t find one yet I have to say that your blog turned out be very helpful during this time. I would really appreciate if someone could give a look at my profile and tell me wether something is wrong or just if it needs more information. Thanks very much. https://www.aupairworld.com/en/aupair_detail?a=3637869

Hi Cristina! Thanks for leaving a message :) Your profile is good but I think you chould write more about why you want to work with children and what experience you have. That is the main focus for the family and one of the first things that they will look at. Hope this helps!
