Film Festival Vibes

As spring blesses us with the glorious blooming of flowers, and the leaves making their wonderful return to those lonely bare trees, it also welcomes the spring/summer events that has me giddy from the inside out. Yes that is right my fellow au pairs, it is the season where all the real fun begins and the super cool events start to pop up all over our news feeds. The event selection process for myself has officially begun and first on my list is just around the corner!

Try and experience something a little different

Of course I did not want to keep this exciting festival to myself so what better than to share it with you all!! (Yaaaaay) This year the European Independent Film Festival showcases its 11th edition, and what better place to have a film festival than right in here in the city of lights. Personally I love a good film, whether that be snuggled up in front of the television in the comfort of my home, or in the movie theatre checking out the newest releases. However, this festival caught my eye because it brings something different to the table.

The European Independent Film Festival takes the very best independent filmmakers from around the world and offers them a unique platform in order to enable some of the most risk-taking storytellers to reach broad audiences. Over 30 countries are participating, and I am excited that little old Ireland has even managed to creep a spot. Shout out to Wifey Redux! The beauty of this festival is that it doesn’t showcase the usual studio projects that have centred their screenings around the commercial havoc that we all indulge in. Instead, it allows ambitious and idealistic filmmakers to showcase their work to a wide range of people including agents, production companies, producers and distributors, all of which have one thing in common, a love of creative and captivating film.

Fancy a little party on a boat..

If that alone hasn’t tempted you then just to put the icing on top, the festival also offers Q+As with directors, workshops and after parties each night. Yes, if you fancy a little party on a boat..no biggy, they have that too! This three day event kicks off on April 8th-10th with numerous locations in Paris, depending on what tickles your fancy. A weekend ticket allowing access to all is a mere €25, and if you are one of the lucky au pairs that has a student card (ooohhh me), then the ticket is €20. Personally I am going for the full weekend, as I don’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to try and experience something a little different. However, if you are not free the whole weekend or perhaps only a few things interest you then there are session tickets available which students can get discounts on too. Don’t you just love studying French? I do!

If you can’t tell already I am very excited about this and I hope that anyone who fancies a little change to their weekend gives it a go, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! Check out more information on the links below and join me with a popcorn in hand and a glass of champagne for after.
